Professional background

 

In 2023, I came to Canada from Hong Kong to study the two-year Professional Writing diploma program at Algonquin College in Ontario. This is the third time I have studied in college.

In 2002, I graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University with a first-class honours bachelor’s degree in English language and literature. To better equip myself for future development and opportunities in the language field, I got a master’s degree in translation studies from City University of Hong Kong in 2009.

 

Since then, I had been an English-Chinese translator for 15 years as an in-house employee, freelancer, and civil servant in the Hong Kong government.

 

With years of experience working with both languages, I have become curious about my potential to be a writer, an artist who is difficult to be replaced by technology in the age of AI. Therefore, I decided to further advance my education and develop my skill set by becoming a Professional Writing student.

 

My career goal is to find a professionally and financially rewarding career as a professional writer and gain new experience working in a diversified environment that is creative, encouraging, and enlightening. My language proficiency in both English and Chinese enhances my competitiveness and opens up more opportunities for me to explore the field.
